“See how the other half lived: Secrets of the Wealthy Buenos Aires” an invitation to delight in palaces and all the XIXth-century beauty (and gossip) of Buenos Aires

Recoleta – Alvear – Arroyo Retiro

Do you love Beaux Arts Architecture of the XIX century? Did you know that Buenos Aires has the largest number of family palaces and petit hotels sin the world? How about being surrounded by beauty? Then Recoleta, the first boulevard catering to the Super Wealthy, inaugurated in 1874 is the place for you.

We’ll start in Recoleta, talk a bit about the history of the place, see Palace de Glace and talk about it being the playground for the wealthy and later on, the venue that made Tango what it is today. Then we’ll visit Iglesia del Pilar, one of the oldest churches in Buenos Aires,which its rich baroque altarpieces and talk a bit about they mystery man behind it, as well as some of the relics inside. We’ll end this segment of the tour visiting the Recoleta cemetery, the most important cemetery in Buenos Aires (and fouth in the world) where people such as Evita Perón and the Ortiz Basualdo are buried. It’s also the biggest open air museum in the world!

Then we’ll walk Avenida Alvear, appreciating the luxury of the french Beaux Art palaces and their colorful stories. Alvear is one of the most beautiful and wealthy avenues in Buenos Aires filled with stories of love, deceit, treachery and heroism. We know them all!

We’ll be visiting Pellegrini square and talking about the history of the palaces surrounding it as well as the Jockey club.

Finally, we’ll cross over to Arroyo Street, one of the loveliest streets in Buenos Aires alongside Alvear, filled with coffee shops, bars and art galleries.

Then we’ll head on out to Plaza San Martín to catch a glimpse of the Train Station and the Kavanaugh Building with its fascinating and gossipy story!

This is where the tour ends and you can catch something to eat and drink on Florida Avenue. Or we’ll point you back to your hotel.

“Colonial Magic: Adventures in San Telmo and Plaza de Mayo”

How does exploring the most famous downtown boulevard, then the heart of Buenos Aires: its colonial square and finally the cobblestone streets of the oldest neighborhood in the city sound?

We’ll start walking through San Telmo to capture the essence of those lovely cobblestone streets and see how the wealthy lived during colonial times. What made them run to the north of Buenos Aires? Why did they leave such a beautiful neighborhood? Questions that will most definitely be answered!

We’ll be visiting the little antique stalls and shops on Plaza Dorrego and of course, the candy stores, to make sure you don’t miss what Calle Defensa has to offer. We’ll also be making a stop at the San Telmo Market to see if you want to catch a taste of the famous empanadas!

Then we’ll land directly in Plaza de Mayo.

We’ll talk about the rich history and stories surrounding Plaza de Mayo and just have a blast right in the middle of the heart of colonial Buenos Aires.

“Modern Magic: The Skyscrapers of Puerto Madero”

CCK – Puerto Madero

How does exploring the most expensive, modern and elegant neighborhood in BA sound? Meet Puerto Madero.

We’ll start by meeting at the CCK, the famous building built by Maillart in true Beaux Arts stye. We’ll be talking about its history, the lore surrounding it (we’ve got some great stories to tell) and just bask in the beauty of one of the loveliest squares in Buenos Aires.

Then well get to the meat of the tour: Stunning Puerto Madero. Built in the XIXth century, it went through several transformations before being restored as the most expensive, fashionable and modern neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Celebrities and the wealthy inhabit its towers (Lionel Messi has an apartment in the area) and its watersides are lined with restaurants and cafés. It’s a beautiful area to stroll in and to talk about.

We’ll be crossing Puente de La Mujer, and going inside the neighborhood, to take a look at the fabulous towers and the Ecological Reserve park. And if you’re in the mood, we can even taste a Riverbank Choripán at the stalls.

“Elegant Belgrano, China Town and the Palermo Hipódromo”
Buenos Aires off the beaten track

Plaza Manuel Belgrano – Cuba Street – Barrio Chino – Break – Hipódromo de Palermo – Pasaje de la Infanta

Belgrano is one of the first neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, it even used to be its own small town. Today, its a hug of dining places, shops and beautiful cafés. Its main square boasts the only round church in Latinamerica and several beautiful museums. In Belgrano you can also see Chinatown, with its magnificent gate and as part of the tour, you’ll get to see the Hipódromo, which is located next to one of Buenos Aires’ many lovely parks.

We’ll meet at Plaza Manuel Belgrano, where we’ll talk a bit about the history of the place and see the only round church in Latinamerica. Then we’ll continue along Cuba Street to see the lovely cafés and high-end shops.

Next, we’ll be going to Chinatown, a couple of blocks away.

We’ll be ending the tour by walking through the grounds of the Hipódromo de Palermo, a wonderful building and racetrack, surrounded by a park and a boulevard filled with cafés and restaurants. It’s truly lovely!

Are you feeling a bit lazy? (after all that touring) and just want to walk some beautiful streets and appreciate the architecture and a lovely park with book stalls and coffee carts? And then walk to one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Caballito? Then this is the tour for you.

We’ll start in Caballito, walking one of the lovliest streets in the neighborhood: Ambrosetti.

The street connects the thriving artery of the neighborhood: Rivadavia with the park, which comes to life on the weekends, everything from book vendor stalls to little coffee carts and folks playing chess.

We’ll spend some time in the park and drink some mate as we talk about Caballito and some of the stories surrounding the neighborhood.

Then well head on out to Barco Centenera and Valle, the heart of El Barrio Ingles, so you can see just how lovely that renowned neighborhood is.

We’ll take to the two main plazas in Palermo: Plaza Serrano, the heart of Palermo and Plaza Armenia. We’ll talk about Palermo, its origins, its specialty coffee shops and the art that you can find. After the tour, you can stick around for an evening of dining and night life in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires.
